Frozen Mango Margarita

  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • ¾ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ¾ ounce agave nectar
  • 1½ ounces silver tequila
  • ½ cup crushed ice
  • Lime wheel for garnish

  1. Chill a margarita glass.
  2. In blender, combine the mango chunks, lime juice, agave nectar, tequila, and crushed ice.
  3. Blend until smooth. Add additional ice or ice water to adjust the consistency as desired.
  4. Pour into the chilled glass and garnish with a lime wheel.

This drink is pretty much perfect as is...particularly in the summer. However, it is possible to improve upon perfection.

  • Add 1 ounce of cream of coconut.
  • Replace ½ cup of the mango chunks with another frozen fruit; try bananas, strawberries, papaya, guava, passionfruit, or pineapple.
  • Replace the tequila with rum. This technically makes it a daiquiri, but it's still delicious.
  • Add a few slices of habanero chilis for some heat.
  • Use a flavored tequila, such as mango, chili, or coconut.

The traditional garnish is a lime wheel, but feel free to play:

  • Add some heat to the rim by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it in tajin or chili powder.
  • Garnish with a mango slice.
  • Garnish with a pineapple chunk.
  • Skip the garnish altogether and drop in an umbrella.

About the Frozen Mango Margarita

If you're looking for a deliciously juicy margarita loaded with tropical flavors, then you can't go wrong with a frozen mangorita. The lush, sweet flavors of the mango blend perfectly with traditional margarita ingredients to turn a simple tequila sour into a sweet, fruity frozen treat that's just bursting with flavor. Mango is just one fruit-flavored variation on the classic margarita, but the tropical notes of the fruit balance the tartness of lime and earthiness of tequila and agave nectar for an exquisite tropical take on an enduring classic.

It Takes Two to Mango

The great thing about frozen drinks is that it's easy to blend a double or triple batch so you don't have to drink alone. So the next time you're seeking a tasty margarita, fire up the blender to make mango margaritas.
